6 tips for a safe hike

Beginners and experienced hikers alike must be careful when hiking. Here are some tips not to be neglected :

1. Stay hydrated !

As Martinique's temperatures are sometimes very hot and dry, it is important to bring enough water.

2. Bring good shoes

Hiking shoes are sometimes essential to move forward. Choose shoes that you feel comfortable in, with good support and a good sole. Avoid wearing new shoes for a walk of several hours!

3. Plan your route in advance

Choose your trail according to your ability. Print out the itinerary in advance, charge your cell phone as much as possible and think about the return trip if the path does not form a loop.

4. Cover up

The weather can change quickly in Martinique: bring rain gear in case of wet weather and hats in case of hot weather! Also plan to cover yourself with sunscreen.

5. Leave early

If you want to make the most of your hike, leave early. Indeed, the paths are sometimes very busy in the afternoon making the walk less pleasant. Moreover, the temperatures are often very hot, so the morning is the ideal time to leave. You will be able to enjoy a clear and sunny panorama.

6. Be accompanied

Having a guide or going with several people is sometimes essential to avoid any risks and to be able to ask for help if necessary.
