The 2025 European Heritage Days will take place in Martinique 📅 on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September 2025.
For this 42nd edition, the national theme is "Patrimoine architectural", an invitation to explore the island's buildings, urban landscapes and know-how.

A creative workshop will explore Amerindian petroglyphs, precious witnesses to pre-Columbian culture. Participants will discover their meaning, then try their hand at modeling inspired by these engravings. A family activity combining history and artistic practice

This original exhibition explores the role of digital technology in the preservation and transmission of heritage. Between digital tools, digital archives and new technologies, the public is invited to reflect on how innovation contributes to keeping collective memory alive.

The Watabwi collective opens its doors to the public. This day is an opportunity to discover the collective's activities, its place of creation and its actions in Martinique.
Visitors will be able to talk to Watabwi members, understand their approach and their involvement in promoting local heritage and culture. The open house offers privileged access to a space usually reserved for artists, and gives visitors a better understanding of Watabwi's place in Martinique's cultural life. A tasting of dishes from the Amerindian culture will awaken the senses.

Baie des Trois-îlets
An exhibition in Trois-Îlets invites visitors to explore the history of local urban planning and architecture. From colonial buildings to Creole houses and contemporary developments, this stage of the program highlights the town's architectural richness and its role in the memory of Martinique.

The Journées du Patrimoine 2025 cultural program also features a literary exhibition dedicated to Georges-Emmanuel Arnaud, a leading figure in Martinique's literary world. Manuscripts, rare documents and excerpts from his works retrace the career and legacy of this writer, immersing visitors in his world.

For the Journées Européennes du Patrimoine 2025, the city of Saint-Pierre is offering a rich and varied program focused on remembrance and discovery. The central event, "Juste Seul Cyparis", pays tribute to the famous survivor of the 1902 eruption of Montagne Pelée. This spotlight on his story invites the public to reflect on resilience, transmission and the importance of preserving intangible heritage. The program also includes a number of events:
Escape Game "Sauve qui peut! an immersive adventure in which participants solve riddles linked to Saint-Pierre's heritage, combining games and historical discovery.
Guided tours: guided tours of the town explore its architectural heritage and help visitors better understand its role in Martinique's history.
Facade survey" workshops: an introduction to the techniques of architectural surveying, raising public awareness of how to read and conserve old buildings.
This program makes Saint-Pierre an essential venue for the Journées du Patrimoine 2025 in Martinique. Between memory, play, discovery and transmission, the town offers visitors a complete experience combining history, architecture and living heritage.
In the north of the island, the commune of Grand'Rivière offers a guided tour of its architectural and natural heritage. This guided tour reveals the history of an authentic fishing village, still marked by its traditions and strong ties to the sea. An ideal stop-off point for lovers of nature and authenticity.

In Saint-Pierre, the program takes on a lively dimension with the discovery of the Maison Rouge, Maison des Arts. After a guided tour of the premises, participants will be introduced to traditional dance. This event perfectly embodies the philosophy of the Journées du Patrimoine: to showcase a site while bringing it to life through shared cultural practices.

The Observatoire Volcanologique et Sismologique de la Martinique, located on Morne la Rosette in 🔗Saint-Pierre, is a state-of-the-art research center dedicated to monitoring Montagne Pelée and the region's seismicity. It plays a crucial role in the prevention of natural hazards in Martinique.
Activities A guided tour will take you into the workings of the observatory, with presentations on monitoring instruments, IPGP missions and scientific collaborations.

The Hardy distillery, located in Tartane on the Caravelle peninsula, opens its doors to the public for an exceptional guided tour. Founded in 1830, this distillery is an integral part of Martinique's industrial and agricultural heritage. The tour includes:
the history of the distillery and its role in the local economy;
the architectural and landscape heritage of the site, nestled in the heart of a remarkable natural environment.
