When you rent a car in Martinique, an excess may remain payable if the vehicle is damaged. This is the maximum amount you could have to pay for covered damage. With the total excess waiver (TCDW, for Total Collision Damage Waiver), you can reduce that excess to €0 for damage covered by the option, subject to the terms of your rental agreement.

On holiday, you’d rather bring home memories than a repair bill. With Total Collision Damage Waiver (TCDW), you reduce your excess to €0 for damage covered by the option, subject to the terms of your rental agreement.
This option supplements Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), already included when you book on our website, by removing the excess applicable to covered damage.
✅ No excess to pay for damage covered by the option
✅ Better protection for your holiday budget if a covered incident occurs
✅ Greater peace of mindon the road and in car parks
✅ Enhanced protection during your rental
✅ A lower security deposit, with the amount depending on the vehicle category
TCDW: a small extra that could save you a big expense.
When booking on the Europcar Martinique website, select your vehicle, then go to the “Protections & options” step. If the total excess waiver is available, you can add it to your rental at the options stage.
The daily price, excess amount and details of the protections are displayed before you confirm your booking. Availability depends on the vehicle category.
For the applicable terms and exclusions, please read the rental terms and conditions.

TCDW: Which costs could you still have to pay?
With Total Collision Damage Waiver, you benefit from €0 excess for covered damage. However, you remain responsible for certain costs, including:
Lost keys or keys locked inside the vehicle, and any resulting costs.
Refuelling with the wrong type of fuel and any resulting damage.
Punctures and tyre damage.
Damage to the upper parts of the vehicle, particularly following a collision with an obstacle or a tree branch.
Damage to the underside of the vehicle, particularly following a collision with an obstacle.
Water damage, depending on the circumstances and the terms of your rental agreement.
Intentional damage or damage caused by negligence or failure to comply with the rental terms.
A quick look around the vehicle before setting off or manoeuvring can save you a lot of hassle: save your holiday budget for the good times!
Before you hit the road, find full details of your protection and its exclusions in our rental terms and conditions.
What is the difference between Partial and Total Collision Damage Waiver?
Partial Collision Damage Waiver (PCDW) reduces the maximum amount you may have to pay for covered damage.
Total Collision Damage Waiver (TCDW) reduces this excess to €0 for damage covered by the option. Availability and conditions depend on your chosen vehicle and rental agreement.
What is the difference between an excess and a security deposit?
The excess is the maximum amount you may have to pay for covered damage, subject to the terms of your rental agreement.
The security deposit provides security for any amounts you may owe the rental company in connection with your rental. It is therefore not necessarily the same amount as the excess.
If my card already covers me, why pay for additional protection with Europcar Martinique?
Some bank cards include cover for damage to or theft of a rental vehicle. However, coverage depends on your card and its terms: it does not automatically replace an excess waiver.
Before booking, check with your bank or insurer whether your rental in Martinique is covered, which costs may be covered and whether you need to pay them upfront before claiming reimbursement. Also ask how this cover works alongside the protections included in your rental.
