Discover the North of Martinique

 On your trip to Martinique, with your rental car, you will spend an unforgettable stay. It is a dream destination for lovers of sensation as the choice of their discoveries remains vast and varied.

So two types of rides are offered to you: the hiking trails for the more athletic, but also quieter walks to discover at your own pace the treasures of the island. You can embark on one of the hiking trails.

The description that follows, is an example and can be done in the day, no problem, if you do not get up too late, and if you have a rental car. This is leaving Fort de France (FDF), car hire, to the north of the island and its rainforest, via the national 3 in the direction of Fonds-Saint-Denis and Morne Rouge, the road Trace. Planted atop a hill from the replica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre in Paris. Its white color contrasts with the nature that surrounds it. Built in 1925 to honor the dead of the 1st world war and serve new place of worship for the people of FDF, the church offers beautiful views of the city.

Few kilometers away, you will be tempted by a trip to the heart of the tropical Garden of Balata which remains an almost mandatory step for a change of scenery and an insured wonder. After parking your rental car in the parking lot at the foot of the Pitons of Carbet and it's already 9:00, you will begin to walk among the heliconia, hibiscus, china pink, wild orchids, giant and unusual trees. The magic of the place gives you amazing feelings.

 In 1982 Jean Philippe Thoze created this beautiful landscaped private garden dotted with taste it has over 200 species of tropical plants patiently collected over the years. It will be resigned to leave this beautiful place and get your rental car to take the road of the Trace, long about forty kilometers, which winds from FDF "green lung", the forest in the center of the island until Ajoupa Bouillon (our next stop). Spectacular route in the heart of a lush tropical forest where reign tree ferns, giant trees festooned with lianas, thick clumps of bamboo in ditches and all shades of green dotted with tropical flowers, dotted with breathtaking views, and endearing villages.

From your rental car, your eyes must constantly adjust to the palette of tropical colors, and through a tunnel, not of stone but of green, as green color envelops you throughout the route. 

The town of Ajoupa-Bouillon has an exceptional site, "Les Gorges de la Falaise".

 This is a walk (1 km: 45 minutes), in a river between two great cliffs covered with dense rainforest, leading to waterfalls where a swim in the cool, clear waters is strongly recommended. By rental car, with the many signs that are present from the village, no reason to get lost. The site is open daily from 08h to 17h30, but during the rainy season it may be that hiking is closed for security reasons. It is therefore recommended to call in advance: 0596 53 36 53. Upon your arrival, you will leave your hire car at the entrance of the site, Mickael and his team are waiting to assist you in your journey, you will of course expected to bring your swimsuit and shoes to be comfortable to walk in the river, or you can rent shoes for 2 € in addition to the entry into force of costs € 7 for adults and € 4 for children.

 After a descent of stairs built on the way to the river, you find yourself in the heart of the gorge is wonderful !!! Gradually, you go back to the waterfalls after walking in the middle of the river or the water quickly reaches the size. The turning of a final corner, you see the waterfalls, located in the middle of walls covered with moss and lichen due to moisture. It is a beauty to take your breath away. Your eyes will be filled with absolutely exceptional images. This getaway you must make absolutely. 

Hard to leave this paradise, yet it takes, because with car rental, you will get to Mount Pelee, by the D39 between Morne Rouge Ajoupa Bouillon (10 minutes). View the hour of the day, you can not predict the ascent of the mountain that day, whose starting point is the car park at 822 meters. Guests will appreciate anyway, sublime panoramic views as you climb just a few meters. Additional Information: Bay of St Pierre and Caribbean Sea, Carbet peaks, further south atlantic north side, and when you turn your head: the mountain, a real treat !!!

The volcano Mount Pelee occupies the north of Martinique, its slopes down to the Atlantic Ocean on one side and up the Caribbean Sea on the other. For the route of the Aileron, it is a tour everything is classic with 600-700 vertical meters between the departure from the lookout to the top, but we must devote a whole day. The volcano is active and is closely monitored, the famous major eruption took place in 1902, wiped out the city of ST Pierre and Morne Rouge a few months later. 

The time will be well advanced, but your adventurous side, tried to leave one last time, with your rental car that will take you to the Anse Couleuvre, where the road ends, in the town of Prêcheur last village in northern Caribbean, lined with black sand beaches, in total contrast with those most frequented South whose sand is white.

 The program that you find particularly encouraging, allows you in one day, with your rental car, discover a maximum of different sites, provided, again you do not wake up too late !!!!
