PAI: protection for people travelling in the vehicle

PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) is a protection included with your Europcar Martinique car rental. It provides cover in the event of bodily injury following an accident involving the rental vehicle. It provides coverage for people travelling in the vehicle, subject to the guarantees and conditions set out in the rental agreement.

Who is this protection for? People travelling in your rental vehicle. This means that we do not only protect the vehicle, as coverage is also provided for its occupants.

CDW: Protection Against Collision Damage

An accident or damage to your rental vehicle can result in significant costs. With Europcar Martinique, CDW (Collision Damage Waiver), referred to as “Protection Against Collision Damage” in our booking process, is included in your rental.

It helps limit your financial liability in the event of bodywork damage, an at-fault accident, or damage where no third party is identified, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

What does this mean for you in practical terms?

Imagine you rent a vehicle worth €24,000 and an incident causes €8,000 worth of damage.

• Without CDW, and in the absence of any other applicable protection, you could be liable for up to the cost of the damage, i.e. €8,000 in this example.

• With CDW included, your liability is limited to the applicable excess. With an excess of €1,200, you would therefore be liable for €1,200 instead of €8,000, provided that the conditions of the protection are met.

• And what if the cost of the damage is lower than the excess? You do not automatically pay €1,200. For example, if the damage amounts to €700, the amount charged would be €700.

CDW therefore allows you to significantly reduce your financial exposure in the event of a collision, while knowing from the time of booking which excess applies to your rental.

THW: protection in the event of vehicle theft

THW (Theft Waiver), or theft protection, is included in your Europcar Martinique car rental. If the rental vehicle is stolen, you are not automatically liable for its full value. Your financial liability is limited to the applicable excess, subject to the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

This means that from the moment you book, you benefit from protection against the financial risk associated with vehicle theft, helping you enjoy the road in Martinique with greater peace of mind.
